In a bid to help its customers showcase their products to the consumers, Hindalco has opened The Aluminium Gallery in Gurgaon, in association with Abhishek Aluminium Products Pvt. Ltd. The gallery displays and sells end-products like windows, ladders, furniture and grills, giving consumers the opportunity to see and operate them.

Hindalco already operates a gallery in Mumbai, which is mainly for displaying the products rather than commercial selling. At the Aluminium Gallery in Gurgaon, home and office owners are guided through a range of products and their features to help them make an informed decision.

The gallery showcases products from international design companies such as Hunter Douglas, JVS Werner, Glazetech, Elesar Focchi, Alutech and a limited edition of aluminium based home décor from Metalcraft, which source their raw material from Hindalco.

Overseas, it is common to see elegant aluminium products in all walks of life — in homes, commercial establishments, institutions and apartments. But the Indian consumer is not aware of the advantages of the metal. Aluminium products are strong, light in weight and corrosion-free over a lifetime. Besides being endlessly recyclable, aluminium is environmentally friendly and has a very high salvage value.

The average per capita consumption of aluminium in India is 1.1 kg whereas in developed countries like the US and Japan it is over 25 kg. Even the current usage of aluminium in India is beset with problems of under-specified quality of material, of poor workmanship and sub-standard accessories.

Mr. S.K. Maudgal, head of marketing and sales at Hindalco said, "The gallery concept is meant to showcase these products, and drive the market on a positive quality spiral. Without such showcasing, low-end products alone tend to get pushed in the market, with unit price being the only consideration. While products at the Gallery have higher unit prices, they deliver far superior life-time value."
