Mrs. Rajashree Birla has, over several decades, played a defining role in shaping the Aditya Birla Group's approach to community development and corporate social responsibility. As Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, the Group's apex body for CSR and community development, she provides strategic direction to the planning, implementation and monitoring of community development programmes across the Group's companies.

Her long-standing philosophy that organisations should "embed the social vision in the business vision" has helped establish community development as an integral element of the Group's long-term approach to responsible growth.

At Hindalco, the CSR Committee, under her stewardship oversees the formulation of the Company's CSR Policy, monitors the implementation and progress of CSR projects, and recommends the annual CSR expenditure to the Board, thereby strengthening the governance and oversight of the Company's community development initiatives.

Under her guidance, Hindalco continues to undertake large-scale community development initiatives across its areas of operation, focusing on education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, water conservation, women empowerment, sanitation and rural infrastructure, reflecting the Company's long-standing commitment to creating sustainable social impact in communities surrounding its manufacturing locations.

Over the years, Mrs. Birla has acquired a deep insight into the Company's business, operations and industry landscape, enabling her to provide valuable guidance and balanced judgment on key matters.

Mrs. Birla is also an eminent figure in India's Corporate Social Responsibility landscape. She chairs the FICCI - Aditya Birla CSR Centre for Excellence and also serves as the chairperson of the Habitat for Humanity India's India Builds Advisory Committee. She is also engaged with the Breach Candy Hospital Trust. Additionally, she is the Chairperson of FICCI's first ever Expert Committee on CSR and is on the Board of BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, a Trustee of the Gujarat Vidyapith, and a Member of the Advisory Committee of the Mahatma Gandhi Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Trust.

Her distinguished contribution to social work has been recognised through several accolades, including the Padma Bhushan conferred by the Government of India. She was also named the recipient of the 'Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for Excellence 2024'. At the G20 EMPOWER Meet in Ahmedabad, the G20 EMPOWER Award for 'Lifetime Achievement' was conferred upon Mrs. Birla.

She has also been the recipient of the much coveted 'Polio Eradication Champion Award' by the Government of India and the All-India Management Association's 'Corporate Citizen of the Year Award'. Under her exemplary leadership, the Economic Times' prestigious 'Corporate Citizen of the Year Award' was presented twice to the Group in 2002 and 2012.

Mrs. Birla's continued association with the Board brings to Hindalco the benefit of her extensive experience in institutionalizing community development across one of India's largest business groups, together with her deep understanding of the governance, execution and long-term stewardship of CSR initiatives. Her leadership of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, combined with her oversight of the Company's CSR framework as Chairperson of the CSR Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of Hindalco, continues to provide valuable guidance to the Board in advancing Hindalco's commitment to responsible community development and in ensuring that its CSR initiatives remain impactful, well-governed and aligned with the Company's long-term objectives.
