Anish Das had spent 17 years in core operations in Hirakud and Aditya Aluminium in Odisha. In July 2022, he was in for a surprise; he was offered the opportunity to transition into the role of Technical Head, Aditya Aluminium Potline.
Anish lacked the confidence to succeed in this technical role; he believed that his USP was operations and manpower management. Adding to his nervousness was the fact that the technical team consisted largely of newcomers. But the unwavering confidence and support of his leadership team convinced him to give it a go.
The going wasn’t easy; they faced their share of misses but the leadership patiently reiterated their confidence. And the team, under Anish, continued to learn and develop. Their perseverance led to remarkable milestones, including the production of higher purity metals like P0303 and PO202, making Aditya Potline one of the few plants globally to achieve this feat. Over the next two years, the team set records for the highest-ever production and reduced specific energy consumption, solidifying their reputation for excellence.
Anish’s journey from self-doubt to success exemplifies how belief, perseverance, and strong leadership can transform challenges into extraordinary achievements. Today, outside of work, Anish and his family actively engage in community activities, such as organising the annual Durga Puja celebrations at the plant, celebrating shared culture and joy.
